KLARA BLOCH
I have worked on several smaller projects for the KLARA BLOCH jewelry brand, helping maintain and upkeep the brand’s digital presence and webshop. In 2020 I led the full re-design of their online presence, taking the project from conceptualization to the first iteration over a 10-week period, and in 2024 I helped optimize and re-design the brand’s website from the ground up, modernising old concepts to better fit the visual identity and direction the brand was going in.
Process
To kickstart the project in 2020, I immersed myself in the brand’s vision, collaborating closely with the founder of the brand to ensure her personality was reflected in every aspect of the design, as her likeness is front and center when it comes to the brand’s identity.
I creatively approached this by designing a character mascot, ‘Mini-Klara,’ which was modeled after Klara herself. This whimsical and playful avatar embodied the brand’s aesthetic, using it to guide users throughout the shopping experience, adding an approachable and fun touch to the interface. Alongside this, I developed a design guide which reflected the colorful aesthetic of the jewelry.
The final result was an e-commerce platform that harmonized the brand’s personal charm with a user-friendly interface that resonated with the brand’s audience.
Re-Design
In 2024 I was contacted to once again take on re-designing the brand’s visual identity. Here, the client asked for the following key changes:
- They wanted a cleaner design that improved on the existing design, with some key changes as to the prioritization of certain colors.
- ‘Mini-Klara’ needed an modernised re-design.
- The website needed to funnel customers better regarding company services.
I achieved these results by thoroughly researching current trends and closely collaborating with the client to ensure the refined visual identity aligned with their brand vision.
For the color prioritization, I implemented a balanced palette that retained familiarity while enhancing brand recognition and appeal. I also modernized ‘Mini-Klara’ by updating her design with cleaner lines and a contemporary aesthetic, preserving her charm and still making her design reflect the look of the real Klara Bloch. To improve customer engagement on the website, I restructured the service pages and introduced clear calls to action, guiding users smoothly through the site to the desired actions.
